Petz Mania LLC frequently asked questions and what to expect:

"Why is my dog put into a kennel when they arrive?"
To help ensure the safety of all of our furry guests, dogs may be placed in a kennel or holding space for a short period of time after they arrive. During this time our kennel techs are setting up and adjusting play groups as needed. We take the time to consider each dogs personality and energy levels so we can place them in a play group that will fit them the best.

"Why is my dog sometimes kenneled or separated during their visit"
When dogs are playing and they start to tire out, they need to be removed from the group and given the opportunity to take a break. We try to keep dogs out of the kennel as much as possible however some dogs prefer or become too over stimulated and need their own quite space to rest. Typically this rest time last for about 25 to 30 minutes depending on the dog. Rest is just as important as play to ensure you pup has a balanced and healthy life.

"What do your kennel techs do?"

Daycare is set up for dog to interact and play with other dogs. Our kennel techs act as "referees" supervising play time as well as monitor the group as a whole. They also ensure all play areas stay mess free and the dogs always have a clean supply of water. If a kennel tech focuses their attention on just one dog they are not able to monitor the group and may cause jealousy issues from within the group.

“Why is my dog so tired after daycare?”
It is not uncommon for some pups to be tired or even a little sore for a day or two after visiting us for daycare or boarding. Here at Petz Mania dogs are only kenneled during meal times (if food is provided) or during an owner requested nap time. Dogs in our facility are out playing the entire day, getting a lot of exercise.

“Why is my dog thirsty after daycare?”
We have water available for our dogs 24/7. We keep outside bowls in cool shaded areas and refill them with cool fresh water. Large water containers in daycare rooms, as well as water bowls in all kennels for our overnight guests. It is totally normal for a dog to want to drink more water after a day of play and exercise. Also some dogs aren’t comfortable drinking around others their first few visits. We suggest  owners encourage their dogs to drink small amounts of water slowly to prevent vomiting.

“Why is my dog hungry/ or why did I receive food back from my pets boarding stay?”
It is not uncommon for a dog not to want to eat in a unfamiliar setting. Daycare pups are only fed if the own supplies food.  We always offer the supplied food  in a secure kennel for about an hour, if the dog does not eat we try again at the next meal. Dogs will usually start to eat after their second day of boarding but this is not always the case. We do not throw any  uneaten dry food as we feel this is wasting your money.

“Can my dog get hurt playing in daycare?
Just like a child who plays on playgrounds in daycare or at school can get hurt from time to time, dogs playing with each other on the playgrounds can get hurt too. Dogs play with their mouths and paws and like to wrestle around on the ground with each other. We have trained staff with the dogs at all time so injuries are rare. If we notice anything, we will point it out to you, but remember, they are covered in hair and we will not see everything. If injuries do occur, as in our service agreement you(not Petz Mania)  are responsible for any medical expenses for your dog, as you would be for a child.

“Why does my dog have sore feet?”
Dogs who are not used to playing or exercising a lot may experience tender paws . They often don’t show us their paws hurt because they are too busy playing and having fun. If your dog has sensitive feet please let us know so we can restrict the amount of play time for their first few visits.

Things to remember:

After a day of daycare your dog will most likely go home hungry, thirsty, and tired. This is normal. During play, dogs might not take the time to stop and drink as much as they should. We always have fresh water available but many dogs are too distracted with playing. Do not be surprised if your dog goes home eats and passes out. This too is normal and is probably one of the primary reasons you bring your dog to daycare.
